Michelle is a Certified and Registered Hatha Yoga Teacher (RYT-200) with Yoga Alliance. She specializes in teaching gentle and meditative yoga for those suffering from stress, anxiety, panic, depression, and trauma.
Originally from Southington CT, yoga was introduced to her after she suffered from years of stress and anxiety, which ultimately lead into panic attacks. “I felt like the world was closing down around me”. Being fed up with what was happening, she made the decision that she was ready for a change, and made it a top priority to getting well. She dedicated herself to taking gentle yoga and meditation classes, and adjusted her diet. The relaxing movements, breathing techniques, and self-talk slowly helped build up her confidence and self worth, while allowing her nervous system to begin the healing process, which eventually helped lead to overcoming the panic attacks. Not only did the yoga help her learn to control her anxiety and panic, but also helped alleviate joint pain from 10 years of dealing with Lyme Disease. This overall well-being moved her with a strong desire to help others, and she decided to become a yoga instructor to use yoga as a tool to help others as yoga helped her.
Michelle moved to Naples, FL with her husband and two boys, three years ago, and has since been teaching group and private classes around town. “I enjoy teaching private classes since it allows me to work on individual needs. We are all different, and what may work for one, may need to be adjusted for another.” She also teaches yoga classes to children at The Village School at North Naples United Methodist Church.
Michelle is also a Certified Holistic Nutritionist, and is available for appointments since she strongly feels that the proper diet can help a persons overall health and well-being. She is in the process of developing her own website dedicated to yoga and nutrition techniques for anxiety and panic sufferers.
Michelle and her husband Tony are Co-Music Directors at a local church. Tony is an IT Consultant and pianist/keyboardist who has sat in on yoga classes playing live background music.
Michelle is very honored to work with Monarch Wellness where she can help “pay it forward” and give back to those who face and suffer anxiety. Check out our monthly calendar for details on classes she teaches, or ask about her private Nutritional Consultation.
