It is scientifically proven that all matter vibrates. Some vibrate at higher frequencies, while others vibrate at lower levels. This is its resonant frequency. Every part of your body, including your cells, tissues, bones, and organs have a resonant frequency. When it is out of sync with its normal level, that is when the body has a dis-ease. Maintaining and/or restoring your body’s natural vibrational level is key to good health. This is where the Tibetan Bowls come into play.
While the gong is one of the oldest instruments, the Tibetan bowls accomplish the same outcome in the body. The sounds of the bowls resonate through your ear, into your brain, affecting its waves, your heart rate, and even your breath rate. These sounds waves work on your body at the cellular level, helping to balance not only your emotions but your physical being as well. Many people feel a spiritual connectedness and overwhelming sense of peace at a gong or Tibetan bowl class.
Stress can cause the body to overreact and send out more hormones than needed into the body such as adrenaline. The additional hormones can make your heart race and your breathing more erratic. The healing sounds of the bowls help to bring the body back from the stress mode into a more natural rhythm. Unlike traditional medicine in which we have a problem then try to find the solution to that problem, the Tibetan bowls seek out the imbalance in the body. In essence, the sound waves are “called” to the parts of your body that are not resonating at their optimal level. The tones wash through your body and bring the “un-tuned” areas into tune.
Yes, it is the month that we here at Monarch Wellness just LOVE! September is National Yoga Month. We believe in taking that special time for yourself by doing something healthy and learning new skills. Naples yoga classes give you the opportunity to do both. And meet some new friends!
Those who are not knowledgeable on the topic of yoga might think that we just stand in different poses and stare into space. Well, it is not like that at all. It can actually be very rigorous exercise and engage muscles that you did not know even existed. And that “staring into space”? That is actually concentration. Here is what you will gain from starting your journey with Naples yoga classes:
Strength and Flexibility: the long stretches and hold times for poses can take a lot of energy and effort. Before long, you will realize that you can touch your toes and your purse seems lighter all of a sudden. All due to yoga!
Injury Prevention: performing the various yoga poses during class, you are engaging your core muscles. In doing this, you have more stability and coordination, which improves your balance. An improvement in balance can help in avoiding falls and accidents.
Mental Health Improves: the practice of yoga includes focused breathing, concentration, and meditation. These make you slow down, which reduces stress. A reduction in stress improves your mood.
Lowers Blood Pressure and Increases Circulation: Naples yoga classes range from slow flow to more of a rigorous pace. Both have been proven to increase circulation and lower blood pressure.
Increased Energy: the breath work and movements involved in yoga will deliver more oxygen to the cells of your body. What an energy boost you will have!
Build Your Support System: those who attend yoga classes have a common goal of wellness both physically and mentally. By participating in classes, you can gain meaningful friendships and increase your support system with other yoga-goers. Here at Monarch Wellness, our classes are small and intimate which encourages bonding with other participants.
As you can see, there are many benefits of Naples yoga classes. Our integrative classes include anxiety relief, strength and flexibility, recovery yoga, and relaxing candlelight yoga. Start your journey to great health through our classes during National Yoga Month! The central Naples office of Monarch Wellness is located at 843 Myrtle Terrace, Naples, Florida 34103. Is there such a thing as the “perfect” family? No, there is not. Families are composed of different personalities all working together to create a life that is successful and happy. Sometimes, those personalities do not interact well with each other. Other times, external influences can create discord between family members. The key to living free of a stressful family life is by communicating and working together through situations and personality differences. When this becomes difficult, a family program that encourages positive behavior is beneficial to everyone involved.
A positive behavior family program is exactly what it sounds like. It teaches both the children and the parents how to deal with their feelings and introduces new coping skills to both of them. Signing up for this type of program shows that you are actively trying to make changes to the family dynamic, which points towards success.
Here at Monarch Wellness, we offer a Positive Behavior Family program at our central Naples location. This comprehensive program consists of separate groups for parents and children over the course of eight weeks.
The first group is for the parents. The Mindful Parents support group encourages parents to talk through their parenting problems with each other. The goal of the group is to provide support, give advice and share coping skills. Hearing that other parents are experiencing similar issues with their children helps to validate their feelings of helplessness, stress, and frustration. Parents will learn how to implement effective parenting tools as well as process challenges and successes throughout the group with other parents.
The second group is for the children. This group consists of two classes that alternate every other week: Cooperative Caterpillar Kids Club and Focused Caterpillar Kids Yoga.
Jill Emmerich, a trained behavior specialist, facilitates Cooperative Caterpillar Kids Club every other week. This class helps children develop a healthier method of expressing their emotions. Other topics addressed are building social skills, learning to communicate in a positive manner, practice sharing, taking turns and following directions.
Salima Silverman facilitates Focused Caterpillar Kids Yoga on alternating weeks with Jill’s class. This class helps children learn to improve focus, release energy in healthy ways, increase self-control and learn how to regulate their emotions and behaviors.
Attending a program that is built to help families in their communication and overall happiness. Most families could benefit from a positive behavior family program such as the one at Monarch Wellness. Call us for more information at 239-231-3208. Imagine the soft glow of candles filling the room while you move fluidly through various asanas (poses). The long holds and gentle stretches help you to unwind and slow down from the stresses of the day. The peacefulness that you feel upon finishing a candlelight yoga class can last all night, assisting in a good night’s rest.
Candlelight yoga incorporates poses that are meant to relax you and release tension from chronic stress and fatigue that can build up throughout the day. Several styles are used such as yin yoga and restorative yoga, both of which include poses that promote circulation in tight areas such as the thighs and hips. The focused breathing and meditation techniques also encourage the body and mind to wind down from the day. Due to the stretching and long holds, props are recommended to those who need the extra support. Most yoga studios will have props that you can use, but if you need them on a regular basis it is best to purchase your own.
If you are looking for a soothing exercise that can balance out your more intense yoga or workout routines, candlelight yoga is for you. Candles create a calming effect and help you focus during meditation. They are soothing to the soul and evoke a tranquil environment conducive to relaxation. The purpose of incorporating the candles into candlelight yoga is to bring this peacefulness into the yoga studio so that you can release the tension of the days.
Here at Monarch Wellness we offer candlelight yoga classes. For those who are interested and would like more information, please either call us at 239-231-3208 or visit our calendar online for class times. In addition to candlelight yoga, we also offer yoga for anxiety relief, recovery yoga, and yoga for strength. Classes are offered at our Central Naples location: 843 Myrtle Terrace, Naples, Florida 34103.
Trainers and coaches from many disciplines of physical fitness look to yoga classes for additional strength and flexibility. Most gym-related strength training shortens muscles through weight lifting and repetitions. Over time, this continual contracting of the muscles reduces movement of the joint. By incorporating yoga training into their routine, these athletes can begin to heal the muscle through lengthening and flexibility.
Yoga postures require you to hold your own body weight, which will build muscle. It is not the type of muscle that a bodybuilder is trying to achieve through repetitively lifting weights in a gym. Yoga is a method to tone and define your body’s muscles, not bulk them up. Yoga poses challenge you to maneuver through twists and turns in the body, strengthening both the large and the smaller muscles. You also benefit from working muscles in a manner that replicates everyday life such as lifting a baby or mowing the lawn.
During yoga classes, you not only build muscle, you also become more flexible. This is important to everyone, especially as we age. Flexibility will reduce your risk of injury from sports, daily life and work outs. Yoga uses eccentric contractions in which as you contract the muscle, you lengthen it as well. You can easily recognize the long, lean muscle shape of someone who regularly practices yoga.
Here at Monarch Wellness, we have a yoga class that focuses on building the strength and flexibility of its participants. This gentle yoga class is great for beginners and advanced students as well. Give your body the support it needs through creating a more flexible and strong body. Call today at 239-231-3208 with any questions or visit our online calendar for the class schedule. We look forward to seeing you! Monarch Wellness’ Central Naples location is at 843 Myrtle Terrace, Naples, Florida 34103.
Summer days have wound down and the kids have gone back to school. After the crazy days of summer caring for the kids, this is the time for moms to think about themselves and their wellness.
Parents, especially moms, are known for putting their needs aside in an effort to care for their children. This is normal behavior, but over time it can take ill effects on the mother if she does not take time for herself. The weeks before the return to school is stressful. Shopping for school clothes, taking care of any school paperwork, trying to readjust your child to the “school routine” of going to bed early, and finding the items on the school supply list.
Now that the kids are back to school, moms can focus on themselves. Such as taking that Pilates or a yoga class she’s always wanted to take all summer. Even just getting her hair and nails done can boost self-esteem. Participating in a wellness program such as yoga or meditation will boost both mental and physical health. Once mom takes care of her needs, then she will be more refreshed and able to tackle everyone else’s issues in the family.
There are many types of integrative wellness programs in Naples that moms can take advantage of. These classes include Tibetan sound bowls, various meditation classes, and yoga classes. Since they are offered in the morning, afternoon, and evening hours, moms can fit it into their schedule. A lot will drop the kids off at school and then go straight to the yoga studio for a dose of calm and wellness.
Monarch Wellness has many types of yoga classes in Naples such as yoga for anxiety relief, yoga for strength and flexibility, recovery yoga and candlelight yoga. Navigating the middle school years can be a challenging time for girls. It is a time of transition from childhood to adolescence. With that, there are many new situations and feelings that they will encounter. Middle school support groups can help with this transition.
Physically, girls’ bodies begin to mature during middle school. They can start their menstrual cycle, begin wearing bras, begin having feelings towards boys, begin having “drama” with girlfriends, and begin paying more attention to their appearance. Their world is changing in a biological, emotional, social and psychological sense.
Society places many pressures on girls to look and act a certain way. They are inundated with unrealistic expectations through television, movies, and social media that can put un-necessary pressures on them. From clothing to sex to weight and more, our society tells girls what the “should” be which most of the time is unattainable. Dealing with these issues can be overwhelming. The instability of these years make arguments and breakups seem a lot worse than they are.
Middle school support groups for girls can help your child with her self-esteem. A supportive system made up of peers for girls to gather and participate in is important. It provides a safe, non-judgmental space that they can open up and talk about similar issues in their life. In relating to each other, this can help in coping with the newness of this age.
Here at Monarch Wellness, we have an 8-week “Soul Sisters Middle School Support Group”. We will be focusing on self-expression, problem-solving skills, peer support, and building self-confidence with other middle school girls in the area. If you would like your pre-teen to be a part of this 8-week group, please call us for more information at 239-231-3208. This support group is offered at our Central Naples location at 843 Myrtle Terrace, Naples, Florida 34103.
We are an integrative mental health practice focused on empowering individuals & families to transform through emotional metamorphosis with peace, purpose, & insight. Professional licensed therapists tailor evidence based counseling with a gentle approach to help you experience freedom & relief.
